Project Overview
Background
The Valley Transportation Resiliency Advancement for Neighborhoods Sustainable Freight Movement Study (V-TRANSFRM) studies the way freight travels through the San Joaquin Valley, identifies locations on the goods movement system that are vulnerable to extreme climate events, and proposes potential improvements. The project is asking you to share your experience if you encountered climate events on the system and seeking your thoughts on how we could improve those at-risk locations.
Engagement
V-TRANSFRM wants to hear from you! We want to engage with residents in Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin counties. We want your feedback about climate problems that affect how trucks move goods through your community. We are asking for your thoughts and suggestions for improvements for the truck routes if you think they are being affected by the extreme weather conditions. We are using community feedback to create solutions and address any problems that extreme climate conditions may cause to freight movement.
Community Engagement Phase One
During the initial phase of outreach, Fresno, Kings, Madera, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tulare counties will host virtual workshops and participate in pop-up events to gather feedback on the climate-related impacts on truck transportation in their regions. Kern and Merced counties will not be included in this phase but will have outreach initiatives during the second phase of community engagement.
